It looks like Darnell Sankey is back in the Canadian Football League.
According to multiple reports, the former Saskatchewan Roughriders linebacker has signed a deal with the Montreal Alouettes.
Sankey led the CFL in tackles in 2022 with Saskatchewan. The Sacramento State set a new franchise record (120) for the Roughriders last season.
In 2021, he recorded 98 tackles with the Calgary Stampeders.
The 28-year-old elected to sign with the XFL’s Arlington Renegades earlier this winter and helped the Renegades win the league’s championship.
Following the XFL season, Sankey received an early release to seek a return to the CFL.
Montreal will be the linebacker’s third team in the CFL. He also spent time in the NFL with the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints.
The Alouettes face the Toronto Argonauts on Friday.
