In a recent update from a Regina City Police officer a crucial reminder regarding speed limits within school zones.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Constable “Hawkeye” Seel highlighted law enforcement efforts within School Zones yesterday. In a mere four-hour span from 8 AM to noon, law enforcement nabbed a staggering 37 individuals for exceeding the speed limits.
The most alarming instance involved a driver clocked at nearly double the designated 30 km/h limit, racing at a speed of 57 km/h.
It’s important to note that Regina’s School Zones are maintained at a 30-kilometer per hour speed limit, and these restrictions are applicable from 7 AM to 7 PM, seven days a week, including weekends.
For those who fail to adhere to these limits, fines start at a minimum of $250, even for speeds exceeding the limit by just 5 km/h.
Authorities from the Combined Traffic Services historically have observed that the majority of offenders tend to be traveling at speeds ranging from 55 to 60 km/h within these School Zones.
