The subject of houselessness once again was the major topic of discussion for city council.
At a tense meeting yesterday, council voted down a motion that would have seen the city declare a houslessness crisis.
Mayor Sandra Masters says a motion like this sounds helpful, but it may not be.
“The feedback we have received from community based organizations who work in this world has been that this can be incredibly disruptive to the fragile eco-system that occurs on the streets”
The vote was 6-2 against, with three councilors not present.
