CRISP report notes COVID numbers rising

COVID is back, and so are the bi-weekly reports for CRISP – the province’s Community Respiratory Illness Surveillance Program reports, or CRISP.

The summer saw monthly reports but with fall, the province will go to bi-weekly CRISP reports.

There was an average of 66 lab-confirmed positive cases in the first three weeks of the reporting period, but that rose to 96 in the most recent surveillance week.

There were 21 hospital admissions for COVID-19 in the last week, with four in ICU.

In the last four weeks, one death associated with COVID-19 was reported, bringing the total to 2,005 lives over the course of the pandemic.

Influenza activity is below inter-seasonal threshholds, with one hospitalization and no ICU cases.

The report also noted that school absenteeism for the week ending Sept. 9 was 1.3 per cent.

The reporting period was for the weeks between Aug. 13 and Sept. 9 of this year. The next report will be released Sept. 29
