The Saskatchewan Roughriders have announced the latest group of players and personnel from the 2013 Grey Cup Championship squad that will be attending next week Legends Night on October 7 when the Roughriders host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
On Thursday, the Roughriders announced former quarterback Darian Durant and head coach Corey Chamblin would be among the members of the 2013 team that will be returning for the festivities.
Durant became the fourth quarterback to lead the Roughriders to a Grey Cup title in 2013, and the only one to perform the feat in Regina. During that memorable evening, the former North Carolina Tar Heel went 17-of-24 for 245 yards and three TDs.
During his time with the green and white (2006-16), the QB started 113 games, and finished with 28,507 passing yards and 149 touchdown passes.
Chamblin led Saskatchewan to the Grey Cup in his second season with the team. He posted an 11-7 regular season record in 2013 and was named the CFL Coach of the Year. This past season, he was the Defensive Backs Coach for the San Antonio Brahmas.
The Roughriders also announced former offensive coordinator George Cortez, offensive line coach Doug Malone and defensive lineman Zach Evans. They will join the previously announced guests which include Kory Sheets, Tyron Brackenridge, Tristan Jackson, Chris Getzlaf, Neal Hughes, Ricky Foley, Mike McCullough and Chris Best.
Before next Saturday’s game against Hamilton, fans are asked to be in their seats 15 minutes before the game for a special pre-game event honouring the 2013 team.
At half-time, there will be videos honouring Wendy Kelly, who is entering the Plaza as a builder and the 2013 team.
