The Regina Thunder hope third time’s a charm when they meet their provincial rivals, the Saskatoon Hilltops on Sunday afternoon in the Prairie Football Conference Championship Finals.
Saskatoon swept the season series between the two teams, with a 36-6 win at Mosaic Stadium, followed by a 19-10 decision at SMF Field.
Regina advanced to the finals last week with a victory over the Edmonton Huskies while the Hilltops beat the Calgary Colts.
Last season, it was the Thunder claiming the 2022 PFC Championship win at Mosaic Stadium. Two years ago, the Hilltops picked up a road win in Regina to defeat the Thunder in the PFC Finals.
Both teams will be relying on the ground for success. Hilltops RB Boston Davidsen finished the season with 1184 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns while Thunder RB Ryland Leichert had 1017 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns.
The winner of Sunday’s game will host the CJFL semi-final next week.
