The nominees for the Canadian Football League Player Awards from each team were announced on Wednesday.
Four Saskatchewan Roughriders were nominated, including a pair of players receiving multiple nominations.
Larry Dean- Most Outstanding Player, Most Outstanding Defensive Player
Dean was able play in all 18 regular season games for Saskatchewan for the second straight year after tearing his Achilles in 2021. The linebacker also registered 100+ tackles (104) for the second straight campaign with the green and white, becoming the second player in franchise history do so (George White 2000-01). He also added two sacks, two interceptions, four pass knockdowns, one forced fumble, and one tackle for a loss.
Samuel Emilus- Most Outstanding Canadian
The second-year receiver enjoyed a breakout season in 2023, finishing with season with 70 catches for 1,097 yards and six touchdowns. Emilus ranked in the top 10 of most CFL receiving categories, including catches (9th), receiving yards (8th), touchdowns (5th) and second down conversions (9th).
Adam Korsak- Most Outstanding Rookie, Most Outstanding Special Teams Player
In his first season in the CFL, Korsak ranked near the top of multiple punting categories. He recorded 117 punts (tied for 2nd) for 5,609 yards (1st) with a 47.9 average (1st). He added six singles (tied for 2nd) and had nine punts downed inside the 10 (tied for 2nd).
Logan Ferland- Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman
The former member of the Regina Thunder primarily played guard for the Roughriders, but Ferland was forced to move to tackle on a pair of occasions that resulted in Saskatchewan victories. In Week 3 against the Calgary Stampeders he moved out to left tackle and in the Labour Day Classic the Melfort product shifted to right tackle.
The divisional award finalists will be announced next Wednesday.
