Zebras in Saskatchewan? (Audio)

Saskatchewan is far, far away from the warmth and natural habitat of the African Serengeti, but somehow five zebras found their way to a small southeast community in the province.

The Provincial Government says it will pay $120,000 for the care of the zebras seized from a farm near Candiac, about 60 minutes southeast of Regina, earlier this year. Currently the animals are being housed in Saskatoon at the Forestry Farm Park and Zoo, but it’s unclear how long the zebras will be guests there.

According to officials, the zebras were in decent condition at the time of seizure and have since been put on a more appropriate diet. The matter is now before the courts.
