A “serious incident” that prompted the Estevan Police Service’s response on Wednesday morning has tragically resulted in the deaths of both the victim and the suspect. A family member has confirmed that the individuals involved were a mother and her son.
The incident unfolded at a residence situated on the 1200 block of 6th Street, with the police receiving the call shortly before 7 a.m. A suspect was taken into custody by police.
EPS Chief Rich Lowen disclosed that an altercation took place later between the suspect, and a police officer – resulting in serious injuries for both.
Both individuals were subsequently airlifted by STARS to Regina.
In a statement given to DiscoverEstevan a family member confirmed that the victim of the initial incident on 6th street was his mother, Karie Anne Guillas-Robinson, and the suspect was his youngest sibling, Justice Legend Antoine Guillas.
Karie Anne succumbed to her wounds, and was pronounced dead at St Joseph’s Hospital yesterday at 9 am.
Justice Legend Antoine was pronounced dead on the operating table at the Regina General Hospital around 4 p.m.
In an update provided later in the day, the police indicated that the officer’s condition remains stable.
