After scoring one goal over their previous two games, the Regina Pats exploded for six on Friday night as they defeated the Brandon Wheat Kings 6-1.
Borya Valis and Sam Oremba each had a pair of goals, with Parker Berge and Zane Rowan also scoring for the Pats.
Nine different players from the Regiment found themselves on the scoresheet.
Regina opened up with three goals in the first period and added another three goals in the second.
Quinn Mantei scored a late goal for the Wheat Kings to prevent Pats netminder Ewan Huet from getting the shutout.
Huet earned a victory making 33 saves.
Assistant Coach Evan McFeeters felt it was a team victory for the Pats on Friday night.
“There was lots of contributions away from the puck from up and down our lineup and our guys were excited. Our previous game on home ice wasn’t up to our standards and identity. We went back to what we do best; playing up the ice, playing north, getting in on the forecheck. It was a big team win for us.”
The win snaps a two-game skid for the Pats, with Regina ending their four-game homestand with a split (2-2).
Next up for the Pats is a trip to Saskatoon where they will meet the Blades in Saskatoon on Sunday night. The two teams will square off in a rematch on Wednesday night at the Brandt Centre.
Coverage for Sunday’s game begins at 3:35 on 620 CKRM, opening faceoff is 4:00.
