Plenty of support programs are available to grain and livestock producers, but it can hard to keep track of all of them.
That’s where the Lower Souris Watershed Committee comes in; they’re organizing a pair of meetings in Redvers and Whitewood this week to show support programs that producers may find helpful.
“We have a lot of programs out there — provincial programs, federal programs, and we have programs like the Ducks Unlimited Canada Program. It’s so producers understand which fits their particular operation,” said Teresa Walker, Chair of the Lower Souris Watershed Committee. “We’re trying to help producers get the best bang for their buck.”
She says at the meetings will be representatives from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture, Saskatchewan Water Security Agency, Saskatchewan Irrigation Projects Association, Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute, Prairie Watersheds Climate Program, Ducks Unlimited Canada, Verified Beef Production Plus, and the Canadian Forage and Grassland Association.
She encourages people to register ahead of time by phoning her at 306-435-7224 or email [email protected].
The first event is in Redvers tomorrow (Wed) at the Legion Hall, and the second in Whitewood on Thursday at Whitewood Livestock.
Both meetings start at 9:45 a.m. with coffee and registration followed by the speakers from 10 a.m. to noon.
