Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive back Nic Marshall was charged with felony possession of a gun.
The arrest happened November 8th during a traffic stop in the State of Georgia. Police say they found an automatic handgun that had been modified in the car. A 32 year old woman in the car was also charged.
Marshall is from Wilcox County, Georgia and was a standout quarterback at Auburn where he led the team to a Rose Bowl birth in 2013.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders released this statement:
“The Saskatchewan Roughriders were made aware Sunday night through media reports that Nic Marshall was arrested on a gun possession charge in Georgia.
The Club is disappointed and taking this matter seriously. We are currently gathering more information and will provide an update soon after.”
Marshall played 17 games for the Riders in the 2023 season, collecting 31 defensive tackles and 5 interceptions.
