City’s Vision Zero program aims to eliminate injuries, fatalities on Regina roads

The City of Regina is building a Vision Zero Road Safety Framework to improve safety for road users in Regina.

This includes pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.

The Vision Zero program, developed in Sweden, has been adopted in other municipalities in Canada and has a goal of eliminating all collisions resulting in death or serious injury.

There will be four pop-up information booths across the city in the coming days. Those are at the Sportsplex Thursday from 6-8 p.m., the Sandra Schmirler Leisure Centre on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, the Regina Public Library (Central) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, and Wednesday Nov. 22 at the Northwest Leisure Centre from 6-8 p.m.

Input will be added together to collision data analysis, technical expertise and stakeholder feedback.

This will help develop the framework, and is expected to be brought to City Council in Spring 2024.

Residents can learn about the program at Regina.ca/visionzero.
