The population of the city of Regina is set to increase for the next seven days, as thousands of people flock to Canadian Western Agribition taking place in the REAL District.
The premier cattle show on the continent opens its doors Monday and runs six days, filling all the buildings with livestock, equipment, and supplier booths.
Agribition usually draws thousands of people from not only across the country, but around the world.
Day one opens with the traditional “burning of the brand” at 10am. Premier Scott Moe, along with former 620CKRM Ag News Director Jim Smalley will do the honours this year, with Smalley acting as emcee.
Monday show highlights include:
- Canadian National 4-H & Youth Judging Competition – 8 a.m. in the Chevrolet GMC Arena
- Youth Showmanship and Team Grooming – 1 p.m. in the Chevrolet GMC Arena
- Chore Team Competition – 10 a.m. in the Brandt Centre
- Alpaca Fleece Show – 8 a.m. in the Canada Centre Arena
- Bison on display – 9 a.m. in the Stock Exchange
- Canadian National Texas Longhorn Show – 3 p.m. in the John Deere Sale Arena
- Beef N’ Barley Winners Circle Horse Pull Auction- 6 p.m. in the Chevrolet GMC Arena
Brandt Centre will be the focus of entertainment in the evenings. Tuesday night, there is Canadian Grand Prix freestyle bullfighting, then the rodeo takes over on Wednesday night.
Maple Leaf Finals Rodeo kicks off four nights of pro rodeo events at Brandt Centre, with free admission on Wednesday night.
