It appears the Regina Pats have made a decision regarding their goaltending situation.
On Tuesday, the Pats placed 2003-born goaltender Drew Sim on 20-year-old waivers.
Sim hasn’t played during the 2023-24 regular season as he recovered from offseason hip surgery.
WHL teams are allowed to carry three active overage players.
Currently, the Pats have three 20-year old defenceman, Parker Berge, Carson Haynes and Keagan Slaney. Both Haynes and Slaney were added to the Pats roster during the season.
Sim was acquired by the Vancouver Giants and has spent the last two seasons in Regina, compiling a 33-35-5 record in Regina.
He played in seven playoff games for the Pats last season during their first-round exit against the Saskatoon Blades.
This season, Regina has relied on 18-year old goalies Ewan Huet and Kelton Pyne.
The Pats begin a three-game road trip on Wednesday in Medicine Hat. They enter the contest, 8th in the Eastern Conference with a 10-11-1-1 record.
