Regina’s city council has removed the directors of REAL.
After a close 6-5 vote this afternoon at City Council’s meeting, council voted to remove the directors until administration completes a report with resolutions on its fate.
A financial report on REAL by MNP released last week found the situation was unsustainable, suggesting further cash was needed from the city to ensure that REAL doesn’t go under.
After the vote was done, the board of directors at REAL announced they had all resigned. This decision by council, and the resignation of the board does not effect Tim Reid. He remains at the head of the organization, and reports to council.
City staff will run things until a new board is put in place, or REAL is dissolved entirely.
City Staff will nominate the next board members who could come from city administration, city council, or the general public.
The removal of the board at REAL follows not long after the city took control of Tourism Regina back from the organization.
