After a little break, the Regina Pats will be busy over the next two days.
Tonight, they finish off a stretch of five straight games in Brandon.
Coverage on 620 CKRM begins at 6:35, opening faceoff is at 7:00.
Regina will try and snap a five-game losing skid that included a three games through Alberta last week.
Tomorrow, the Pats will hold their 27th Annual Teddy Bear Toss game.
Fans are asked to bring a new stuffed toy, preferably inside a clean plastic bag. When the Pats score their first goal, fans toss the stuffed toy onto the ice.
Stuffed animals will be available to purchase in Section 116 by the Subway.
A large portion of the bears will be donated to the Salvation Army. The Pats players will also deliver some bears to local hospitals in time for the holiday season.
“We are extremely excited for this year’s Teddy Bear Toss,” said Regina Pats CEO Gord Pritchard. “This is one of the marquee nights of the hockey season and we look forward to putting smiles on children’s faces this holiday season. The in-arena portion of this annual game night is no doubt fun for everyone involved, however it is the opportunity for our players to deliver the teddy bears community members following the game that is truly special and something our entire organization takes great pride in.”
Tanner Howe is looking for a natural teddy bear hat trick, as the Pats Captain has scored the first goal over the last two Teddy Bear Toss games in Regina.
“This is one of those events we look forward to every year,” Salvation Army’s Al Hoeft said. “It’s so fun when you come to the game and see all the Teddy Bears rain down onto the ice. It’s a great time for everyone and it makes such a difference in the community. We’re able to make a real impact in the life of kids this Christmas because other kids are coming to the game, having fun and being able to share something.”
The first Pat to score a goal in a Teddy Bear Toss game was former Calgary Flames defenceman Derek Morris (1996).
Other notable players to score a Teddy Bear Toss goal include Josh Holden (1997), Rick Rypien (2003), Jordan Eberle (2009), Chandler Stephenson (2011), and Josh Mahura (2017).
The Pats host the Swift Current Broncos at the Brandt Centre. If you can’t make it to the game, you can tune in on 620 CKRM, 6:35 pre-game, opening faceoff at 7:00.
