A Regina doctor is facing fraud charges after an investigation by the Regina Police Service.
Police say that investigators began looking into the file of a doctor who owns a practice in Regina after the Ministry of Health reported what they believed to be billing irregularities. The offences occurred between 2016 and 2019.
The doctor, 53-year-old Dr. Oghenerukevwe Ugwumba, turned herself in to police on November 27 and is charged with fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000, identity theft, and criminal breach of trust.
Ugumba is set to make her first court appearance in Regina Provincial Court on January 10, 2024.
