Inquest into Stabbings at James Smith Cree Nation Set For January


An upcoming public inquest is slated for January to investigate the devastating mass stabbing that claimed 11 lives in James Smith Cree Nation and Weldon, Sask.

On September 4, 2022 Myles Sanderson took 11 lives and injured 17 others.

The Saskatchewan Coroners Service (SCS) has set the inquest dates from Jan. 15 to 26 in Melfort, Sask., with the possibility of extending until Feb. 2 if needed.

A separate inquiry, scheduled for Feb. 26 to March 1 in Saskatoon, will examine the circumstances leading to Sanderson’s death.
