In a remarkable surge, Saskatchewan’s population has reached a historic pinnacle, hitting 1,218,976 people as of October 1, 2023. The third quarter alone witnessed an increase of 9,869 people, contributing to a staggering annual growth of 31,369 people – the most substantial surge in over a century.
The population boost in the third quarter was fueled by a net international migration of 11,021 people and a natural increase (births minus deaths) of 766. However, it’s noteworthy 1918 left the province.
Saskatchewan’s growth trajectory has been impressive, with the province welcoming over 200,000 residents since the Saskatchewan Party took power in 2007. The province is now on its way to achieving the ambitious goal outlined in the government’s Growth Plan, aiming for a population of 1.4 million people by 2030.
