The month of December has seen Regina Fire and Protective Services fighting 9 house fires, with residents dying in two separate blazes.

Just after midnight December 20th, fire fighters responded to a fire on the 2100 block of Winnipeg Street. Reports were of fire and smoke pouring from the home when crews arrived on scene.

Regina fire crews entered the home and located two occupants inside – both were declared dead on the scene.

The cause of the fire was under investigation as of Wednesday morning, with authorities remaining on the scene.
