Former CKRM Broadcaster expanding her skills in the PWHL (AUDIO)

The Professional Women’s Hockey League is off and running in its inaugural season. Like the NHL, the PWHL is starting off with six original teams located in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, New York, Minnesota, and Boston.

Former 620 CKRM broadcaster Daniella Ponticelli is one of those who is making her name known not only in the sports community, but in the PWHL as well.

“It’s wonderful,” exclaimed Ponticelli. “It’s like strapping yourself in for a rollercoaster ride, but the best part about that ride includes historic moments over and over.”

As an example, Ponticelli cited Minnesota’s game attendance is expected to beat the record set in Ottawa earlier this week. Currently, Minnesota is playing in an NHL arena and expected to see over 8300 fans in attendance, while Toronto has a capped attendance of just over 2700 fans.

“In Toronto, there’s a secondary market for tickets, that’s how badly people really want to get to these games,” Ponticelli stated.

Ponticelli is broadcasting several of the PWHL games this season, but not all due to scheduling. Her next play by play broadcast will be on January 13th when Toronto takes on Ottawa. PWHL fans can tune into the games on the Professional Women’s Hockey League YouTube Channel.
