One of Regina’s own has been added to the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation Winter Classic.
The Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation have announced former Stanley Cup Champion Ryan Getzlaf as the latest addition to the upcoming Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation Winter Classic roster.
“I can’t wait to return to the province of Saskatchewan and take the ice with my brother Chris,” said the Anaheim Ducks’ all-time leading scorer Ryan Getzlaf. “The Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation does amazing work with youth across the province, and I am excited to be a part of this incredible event.”
During his 17-year-career, Getzlaf became the Ducks leader in games played, assists, and points and the all-time playoff leader in goals, assists and points. He is also a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist (2010, 2014).
On February, 3, the second annual Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation Classic takes place at the Merlis Belsher Place.
Rider kicker Brett Lauther will captain one squad with former wide receiver Chris Getzlaf will be the captain for the other team.
Other former NHLers confirmed for the event include Eric Gryba and Byron Bitz. A full roster will be announced at a later date.
The Roughriders Foundation Winter Classic will be family event with a kid zone, special giveaways, and more interactive activities.
