In Loreburn, Saskatchewan, a grain elevator fire kept firefighters from Loreburn, Elbow, and Davidson Volunteer Fire Departments busy on Sunday.
The Davidson Volunteer Fire Department credited calm winds for preventing the fire from spreading beyond the elevator.
The structure’s unique burning pattern, referred to as “candling,” allowed for better containment. Elbow Volunteer Fire Department joined efforts, emphasizing the challenges due to the elevator’s contents, filled with grain, creating a large smoldering pile.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the fire was contained to the elevator.
