The Regina Pats were defeated by the Saskatoon Blades 9-1 on Wednesday night.
Saskatoon has eight goal scorers in the win, with Hudson Kibblewhite the only multi-goal scorer for the Blades.
Egor Sidorov had three points on the night (1G-2A) for Saskatoon, also scoring was former Pat Easton Armstrong, Vaughn Watterodt, Misha Volotovskii, Fraser Minten, Brandon Lisowsky, and Ben Saunderson.
Corban Almen had the only goal for the Pats on the night, breaking a 22-game goalless drought. The last time he scored was also against the Blades on October 27. Carson Haynes had an assist on the goal.
Evan Gardner picked up the win, making 30 saves in the victory.
Assistant Evan McFeeters said after the game,
“We had spurts as a group, we were able to put together two or three shifts together at a time, when you get a team like Saskatoon and the depth they had and as much space we were able to give them, they were able to walk out of their zone with a ton of a pace.” He added with the skill the Blades have, it doesn’t take much to put in the back in the net.
Regina remains five points back of Calgary of the final playoff spot with the loss.
The Pats return to action on Friday night when they welcome in the Swift Current Broncos.
