Even if there wasn’t a lot of actual frost this year due to the unseasonably warm temperatures, Frost Regina presented by Co-op has wrapped up its third celebration, leaving behind a trail of enchantment and community camaraderie.
Over 63,775 visitors flocked to the four Frost Regina hubs—Frost @Downtown, Frost @REAL, Frost @Warehouse, and Frost @Wascana—over the span of 10 winter days, transforming Regina into a magical winter wonderland.
Frost Regina lived up to its reputation as one of the best winter festivals in Canada, drawing accolades from locals and visitors alike. The festival showcased captivating light installations, remarkable art displays, and a rich cultural tapestry.
Mayor Sandra Masters, in a media release, emphasized the festival’s role in community connection, stating, “Frost Regina is a perfect showcase of collaboration and community connection.”
Survey results conducted by Tourism Regina revealed that 37% of attendees were first-time visitors, showcasing the festival’s expanding appeal. Additionally, the festival received an impressive net promoter score of 82 per cent, indicating a highly positive sentiment among attendees.
The 2024 Frost Regina faced a unique challenge with unseasonably warm temperatures, but organizers successfully adapted programming to maintain the quality and diversity of experiences. Despite the weather, the festival encouraged residents to embrace the winter spirit, explore the various hubs, and celebrate the city’s vibrant culture.
Frost Regina expressed gratitude to its partners and sponsors, including the City of Regina, Tourism Saskatchewan, and Federated Co-operatives Limited, for making the event possible. Heather Ryan, CEO of Federated Co-operatives Limited, stated in a release, “As presenting sponsor of Frost Regina, we are proud to be part of the festival’s continued success.”
Regina’s commitment to becoming a vibrant year-round city was on full display, with Frost Regina serving as a testament to the city’s Winter City Strategy. The Regina Winter Festival Committee, created in 2021, played a pivotal role in ensuring a collaborative and coordinated approach to Frost Regina’s programming and delivery.
