Over the February break there were no new talks between the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation, and the provincial government’s bargaining team to try and end the labour dispute which has seen multiple levels of job action over the last few weeks.
Teachers will not come to the bargaining table unless the provincial government agrees to bargain over “class size, and class complexity”. So far, the Sask Party Government has refused to give its negotiators that mandate. Instead, the government is pushing funds to the school divisions so they can work out the best way to tackle the issue on a division by division level.
The STF has been announcing what action its members will be taking 48 hours in advance, as is the law.
On Wednesday, there will be a province wide ban on extra-curricular activities. All extracurricular activities that take place before school, during lunch hour, after school and in the evening are included.
