The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation has issued a notice, a call to action- members of the Lloydminster Teachers’ Association and Horizon Teachers’ Association will hold a one-day rotating strike Friday.
By law, a 48-hour notice is required for such job action, the STF, understanding the impact on families, gave extra time. Knowing this doesn’t just impact the teachers, but instead the entire community.
Over 300,000 emails and phone calls have flooded the inboxes and voicemails of MLAs, school board trustees, and the Saskatchewan School Boards Association in support of the province’s educators.
The STF still calling for the province to negotiate class size and complexity. Teachers saying this is not just about wages or benefits; it was about creating an environment conducive to learning, one where both students and teachers could thrive.
The website www.tellthemtuesday.com is a hub, providing tools and resources for those who wish to join the cause, to stand shoulder to shoulder with the educators fighting for change.
A single day province wide strike is taking place today – on a day when the province is set to table it’s budget.
