A pair of Regina teams are provincial basketball champions.
Saskatchewan’s top high school basketball teams had a chance to close out their 2024 season this weekend at a one-day provincial basketball championship held in Moose Jaw.
The one-day tournament was organized after the cancellation of Hoopla due to the ongoing contract impasse between the provincial government and the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation.
Regina Christian School won the 3A Boys Championship, beating Clavet 82 to 79.
Other boys’ winners include Legacy Christian Academy (1A), St. Brieux (2A), Moose Jaw Central (4A), and Saskatoon Walter Murray (5A).
On the girls’ side, Regina LeBoldus upset the number one seed, Regina Winston Knoll, 77 to 69 to win the 5A Girls Championship.
Willie won the 1A girls’ championship, with Precceville (2A), Lanigan (3A), and Meadow Lake (4A) rounding out the winners for this year’s provincial basketball championships.
