Wildfire smoke causes special air quality statement

A band of wildfire smoke is moving through Saskatchewan, and Environment and Climate Canada is issuing a particular weather statement for much of the province.

Conditions are expected to improve throughout Sunday morning. However, Environment Canada reminds residents that wildfire smoke can harm everyone’s health, even at low concentrations.

People with lung disease (such as asthma) or heart disease, older adults, children, pregnant people, and people who work outdoors are at higher risk of experiencing health effects caused by wildfire smoke.

Environment Canada says people should stop or reduce their activity level if breathing becomes uncomfortable or someone in their care feels unwell. Contact your healthcare provider or local health authority if you develop severe symptoms or need advice.
