Canada’s Farm Show: Day 1

Canada’s Farm show presented by Viterra is back for another year at REAL District. The event starts today and goes until Thursday from 9am to 5pm today and tomorrow and 9am to 4pm on Thursday. CKRM’s Gloria Evans and Colin Lovequist will be live on location each day, plus Sask Ag Today with Ryan Young will also be broadcast live from the event at noon each day.

There will be a number of guest speakers today including Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe speaking about the state of agriculture in the province. The Premier’s Breakfast is a ticketed event, which starts at 7am.

Today is Farmer Appreciation Day and to celebrate the occasion, The Global Institute for Food Security, the University of Saskatchewan, and Farm Credit Canada will be making a very important announcement regarding innovation in agriculture starting at 10:45. Speaking of innovation, Degelman Industries will be unveiling their new staggered ripper at 2pm.

Over the past few years, artificial intelligence (AI) has been making headlines in all areas of technology, including in agriculture. At 11:30am, Walter Schwabe will be talking about how AI is now being used to boost crop health, crop output, and how AI will affect the ag industry in the future both positively and negatively. We’ve also been hearing a lot about drones these days, unfortunately it seems most of the headlines involves drones in war. Drones, however, can be used in farming. At 12:30pm, Matthew Johnson will be speaking about how drones can be used on the farm and positive impacts they can have.

Admission to this year’s show is $15/day or $30 for a three day pass. Youth age 17 and under will get in free. To buy tickets online and to see a full schedule of events for Canada’s Farm Show CLICK HERE.
