Premier’s Breakfast, AI in Ag, and Product Launch highlight Day One of Canada’s Farm Show

REAL District in Regina will be full of activity this week as Day one of Canada’s Farm Show gets underway Tuesday.

It begins with the Premier’s Breakfast Tuesday morning, as Premier Scott Moe will deliver a “State of Agriculture in Saskatchewan” address.

The Launch Pad, located in Hall A of the Viterra International Trade Centre, will be the site of several presentations covering various topics related to agriculture for all three days.

Tuesday’s activities include a joint announcement “supporting agricultural innovation” from the Global Institute for Food Security (GIFS), the University of Saskatchewan, and Farm Credit Canada (FCC).

Walter Schwabe will have a presentation about Artificial Intelligence and its potential role in the agriculture industry – both the positive and the negative. On a similar topic, Matthew Johnson will talk about drones and their potential role in agriculture.

Janelle Kuntz, Manager and Program Advisor with Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation (SCIC), with share the “importance of business risk management for farm operations”.

The first product launch of the event comes courtesy of Degelman Industries as they will unveil the HDSR Series of Staggered Ripper.

Then wrapping up the first day is the finale of the 24-hour AgTech start-up contest, where teams will be pitching their start-up ag company – created from scratch in just 24 hours – to a panel.

The theme of Day one is “Farmer Appreciation Day”, presented by Playnow.com.
