Regina Police Conclude Major Drug Trafficking Investigation with Arrest and Seizure

Regina, SK — A month-long investigation by the Regina Police has culminated in a significant drug bust on Thursday, June 20, 2024. Officers initiated a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of a 40-year-old Regina man, Shawn Branton.

The investigation led to the seizure of substantial quantities of illegal substances, including 59.06 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, 86.12 grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl, and 17.11 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Additionally, police confiscated $1,375 in Canadian currency, suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking activities. The drugs seized in this operation, particularly the fentanyl, a powerful opioid, has been a major contributor to the rise in overdose deaths across Canada.

Shawn Branton has been charged with two counts of possession of a scheduled substance for the purposes of trafficking. Following his arrest, Branton was released from police custody and is scheduled to make his first appearance in Provincial Court on August 8th, 2024.
