This Thursday Randall King will grace the Casino Regina Show Lounge for the first time in his career. The Texas country singer has never been to Saskatchewan nor has he been to Canada yet.
The self described “old soul” grew up listening to George Strait, Keith Whitey, Alan, Jackson, and Merle Haggard, but is grateful to the Texas scene to allow him to pursue his country music dream.
“There have been some great guys that have come out of there (Texas) like Pat Green, Josh Abbott, and Wade Bowen – those were a lot of the guys that I listened to when I was starting to get into the scene and figure out and navigate my way through the industry,” explained King.
He has just released his third album titled “Into the Neon,” which contains 18 new tracks. He had a self titled independent record in 2018 and released his second project in “Shot Glass” in 2022, which was his debut with his record label. The new record is something very different for King.
“It’s darker, it’s edgier, smokier, and has a grit to it that’s real tasteful compared to the heavily compressed radio-ready sound that was Shot glass,” he noted.
In the few short years he’s been in the music industry he’s made some pretty big connections. He’s toured with both Clay Walker and Tracy Lawrence during the time he released his album “Shot Glass,” and calls Garth Brooks a close friend, something that still shocks him to this day.
“When you sit there and look over at the phone and see the notification you’re like ‘wow! That’s pretty wild,” chuckled King.
Randall King and his honky tonk style show will be at Casino Regina Thursday evening starting at 8pm.
