Goodbye Joe

Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum hall of famer and member of The Oak Ridge Boys Joe Bonsall passed today from complications of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. He was 76. Bonsall has been a member of the Oaks for 50 years, retiring from the road earlier this year . Joining the long-running quartet in 1973, Bonsall offered tenor vocals to hits including “I’ll Be True To You,” “Elvira,” “Bobbie Sue,” “American Made” and “Love Song.” They were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015. Bonsall is also the author of 11 books, including the memoir I See Myself. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, daughters Jennifer and Sabrina, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. At his request, there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association or Vanderbilt’s ALS Research Center.
