Getting behind the wheel of Kubota tractors at Ag in Motion

The bright orange equipment of Kubota Canada isn’t hard to miss at Ag in Motion.

Kubota is one of a few companies offering an opportunity to try out their farm equipment, the M7 and M8 model tractors; the other companies offering similar opportunities are CLAAS, John Deere, and Versatile.

Kyle Dabrowski, the Part Manager for the M Series of Tractors for Kubota Canada, says the M7 comes in 130, 150, and 170 horsepower, and in two different models – Deluxe and Premium. The Deluxe model, Dabrowski says, is a simple, easy to operate tractor with less technology integrated into it. The Premium model has more tech in it, such as electronic rear remotes and monitors to “dial in the tractor a little bit more into your operation.”

The first generation of the M7 came out in 2016 and as of last, Kubota is on its fourth generation of the M7 tractors.

The M8 model comes in a higher engine horsepower offering, Dabrowski says, and takes a lot of its design cues from the M7. “We call it the M7’s big brother,” he said. “Anyone familiar with the M7 can easily get into the M8 and operate it – it has very similar driving characteristics.”

Both tractors have two transmission options – a semi-power shift with 5 electronically-controlled ranges and 6 power shifts, and a CVT transmission which he says is easy to operate, describing it as like driving a car. The M7 comes with a four-year, four-thousand hour basic warranty with a six-year power train warranty, and the M8 has a two-year, two-thousand hour basic warranty with a four-year power train warranty.

In terms of feedback from users of the tractors, Dabrowski says the common denominator was they’re easy to drive and very comfortable.

The price of the tractors range from 250 to 300 thousand dollars, depending on the need.

You can find Kubota at lot number 229 on the corner of 1st street and Saskatchewan Drive at the Discovery Farm site, near Langham.
