It takes a lot of work putting on a huge show like Ag in Motion. I like watching videos and seeing pictures of the behind the scenes of events like these. So I’ll share our behind the scenes of Sask Ag Today at Ag in Motion.
To your left, the behind the scenes dream team. In the center is “Mosh” as we like to call him in the Harvard Family. (Sorry Mosh, if that’s not how you spell your nickname). He’s head of the Technology Department for Regina. To his left, meet Curtis, Mosh’s technician assistant, from our Regina stations. And to the right is Carter, Kyle’s technician assistant from the Yorkton market. Who’s Kyle though?
If you ever hear me talking on the air about THE SMARTEST GUY at GX94, it’s this guy. To your right, is Kyle Sawatsky, head technician for all of Harvard Media Saskatchewan. He’s working hard in the office at GX94, Yorkton while the rest of his dream team are on location this week. These 4 guys really are great to work with and are incredibly smart.
For the better part of Monday this week, Mosh, Carter, and Curtis spent hours setting up the “Harvard Hub” or “Shack Ag Today” as they have named it, at Ag in Motion. Booth 176. Our head of Harvard Experience Zoe from Saskatoon was with them, and together the team made this Hub a reality so that our on air team can interview our clients and broadcast live for this week.
This is home for our on air dream team for Sask Ag Today for the week. (Just during the day, I’m pretty sure they have hotel rooms for the nights.) GX94 Agriculture Director, Doug Falconer and 620 CKRM AgriNews Director, Ryan Young are bringing us Sask Ag Today live from Ag in Motion all week from just outside of Saskatoon.
I personally love hearing the special edition shows of Sask Ag Today when we bring Doug and Ryan together. Probably because I’ve worked with both of these men for many years. Ryan started off at GX94 as a young 20 something year old. (I’ve told you the story that when I first met him, he said, “I grew up listening to you!” I was flattered and stung at the same time!) Ryan worked under Doug Falconer for many years, until a few years ago when he made the move to our sister station CKRM. (He’s all grown up now! Sorry Ryan, I’ll always be decades older than you, so you’ll always be young!)
It’s a pleasure working with this great team. Now you might be thinking, “Tonya, you’re not in Saskatoon, what are you talking about working with them!” Travis Stewart, Assistant Program Director for CKRM, (and many more titles, and on-air content creator (my Boss ALWAYS tells me how funny Travis is on the air)) and myself are the ones back in the studios of GX94 and CKRM board-oping while Sask Ag Today is on the air. I’ve talked more to Travis in the past 2 days than I have in the past 2 years, we are on the phone for the whole hour communicating, and making sure everything runs smoothly from our end.
There’s a lot of working parts when it comes to bringing a show live to you from on location, and SO MANY WAYS it can go wrong. But I must say the Harvard Media crew is on point and a great team to be a part of. I’m getting pretty sappy here aren’t I? It must be because I’m writing this at 3am after the 6 year old work me up and I couldn’t get back to sleep. Sentimental it is then. -Tonya Cherry-
