CFL fan attempting world record (AUDIO)

A former Winnipeg man is travelling across Canada in an attempt to break a world record for seeing the most CFL stadiums in the shortest amount of time. Chris Tymofichuk is on a mission to break the world record set last year by another CFL fan, Bobby Dubeau. The current record holder did it in 362 hours, 51 minutes, but Tymofichuk feels he can do it 90 minutes shorter. He admits the world record attempt has morphed into something much bigger than just a spot in a Guinness record book.

“I’m carrying a bucket, I call myself the guy with a bucket, walking around the tailgates, pregames, and concourse at the games collecting pennies, dollars, or whatever anyone’s willing to donate,” explained Tymofichuck.

All the money he raises will be donated to a childhood cancer research centre in Vancouver, the city that will hosting the 2024 Grey Cup Championship game. Tymofichuck will be at Friday’s game between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Mosaic Stadium seeking donations as he attempts to break a world record.

He says there are a number of requirements from Guinness to ensure the record is achieved fairly.

“You have to send in an application and they have to approve it before you can actually get certified in the attempt and they send a big long list of due diligence.”

He will be required to submit to carry a GPS unit, provide video coverage, and get eyewitness statements of his attempt.
