Saskatchewan athletes headed to Paris

The summer games in Paris officially kick off on Friday and Canada will be sending another large contingent of competitors. Nine of the 316 athletes headed to Paris this week will be coming from Saskatchewan. These include:

  • Paige Crozon of Humboldt will be in 3 on 3 basketball
  • Waldheim’s Carissa Norsten will be in Rugby Sevens
  • Rylan Weins, originally from Saskatoon, will be competing in diving
  • Kenzie Priddell of Regina is in Artistic Swimming
  • Saskatoon’s Blake Tierney is in Swimming
  • Trey Lyles of Saskatoon is competing in Basketball
  • In athletics, we’ve got pole vaulter Anicka Newell of Saskatoon, Michelle Harrison of Saskatoon, and Savannah Sutherland of Borden.

We also need to acknowledge athletes who may not be in Saskatchewan now, but have ties to the province. This includes boxer Tamara Thibeault who once trained in Regina, swimmer Kelsey Wog, Ovesh Purahoo, who will be competing in swimming for Team Mauritius, and water polo athlete Blaire McDowell who now calls BC home.

Good luck to all our athletes in Paris, France July 26th to August 11th, 2024.
