The annual August long weekend has arrived and the weather appears to be just right. Not too hot and not too cold. Monday, August 5th is the actual holiday and is known as Saskatchewan Day. The name dates back to 1975 when the Minster of Labour, Gordon Snyder, proposed the name change in the Saskatchewan Legislature. The motion was approved in June of 1975.
Each province in Canada has named the August long weekend something different. For example, it’s known as Heritage Day in Alberta, Terry Fox Day in Manitoba, Natal Day in Nova Scotia, Nunavut Day in Nunavut, and British Columbia Day in, you guessed it, BC!
