Team Canada dominated from start to finish at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup opener in Edmonton, Alberta.
Macklin product Cole Reschny of the Victoria Royals led with two goals and three assists in a stellar five-point night. Matthew Schaefer and Émile Guité also contributed big with two goals and an assist each as Canada crushed Switzerland 10-0 at Rogers Place.
Medicine Hat’s Gavin McKenna added a goal and two assists, while Swift Current Broncos defenceman Peyton Kettles scored too. Goalie Jack Ivankovic stopped all 20 shots he faced for a flawless shutout.
Team Canada which also features Whitewood product Reese Hamilton will face Slovakia on Tuesday night.
