The WonderHub

This past long weekend we took our kiddos to the WonderHub in Saskatoon. This is the first time we had been there. I was told is was a children’s museum, but I think a better description would be a children’s PLAY WORLD!

This is basically Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory of play zones, minus the chocolate river and Oompa Loompas, (and creepy Willy Wonka). It’s where pint-sized explorers turn into full-blown adventurers, and parents suddenly rediscover their inner child. Every inch is designed to be interactive, meaning kids don’t even realize they’re learning because they’re too busy having a total blast.

First up, we’ve got the “Imagination Playground”. It’s like LEGO had a glow-up. Kids can grab giant green foam blocks and build whatever wild structures they dream up. My husband LOVED this room. Castles? Check. Spaceships? Totally. It’s pretty much an engineer’s paradise built by little hands.

Then there’s the “Discovery Mine”. This one’s for your budding geologist. You get a taste of Saskatoon’s gritty mining history. Who knew geology could be so much fun? You get your safety gear on, go down the pretend elevator, then mine for potash, and even fix the battery in a vehicle.

Then there is this giant spider web, made of brightly coloured ropes that kids can crawl into, then all the way up, practically to the roof. I was tempted to go in too, but got really claustrophobic at the thought. Oh to be a kid again.

My 4 year old and I took some time to colour and paint in their art room. There was a stage that kids could put on shows, with a full on curtain and costumes. Our kids could have played there for hours, it was pretty darn cool!
