Tree with Dutch Elm Disease removed from Wascana Centre

To safeguard Regina’s tree population, Wascana Centre removed a Dutch Elm Disease (DED) infected tree last Tuesday.

The infected tree was near Goose Hill, east of Wascana Parkway. Wascana Centre, which has around 5,000 elm trees, previously confirmed DED cases in 2014 and 2019.

The Provincial Capital Commission (PCC) manages a DED Control Program, including regular monitoring, elm tree inspections, and preventative measures like fungicide injections.

The program aims to prevent the spread of this tree disease in the region.
