Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope (Audio)

As September unfolds, so goes the string of walks, runs and cycling events that support so many worthy organizations. Some participate in all of them and other pick the events that speak directly to family, friends and themselves. The Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope is coming up this Sunday beginning at 11:30 with registration followed by the opening ceremonies and the walk from Miller High School around the neighbourhood. There are 31 walks that will take place across Canada this Sunday. Money raised aiding research, education and resources to assist with the early detection of the disease.

Kathy Szarkowicz is an Ovarian cancer survivor, she has a special story about her ovarian cancer journey, that in itself is worth coming for the walk to her her story. She talks about her faith and how it has helped. She is a wealth of knowledge for those that may feel that no one is listening when it comes to their reproductive health. Ovarian cancer is not easily detected, listen to your body, it sends signals to you. The Ovarian Cancer Canada website has a survey that gives valuable information that may help with diagnosis.

On Sunday, teams come out to socialize, share their experiences during the opening ceremonies, there is music, fun & laughter, prizes and fellowship. All are welcome. The Regina Riot are terrific supporters of the Walk of Hope and everyone looks forward to seeing them.
