University of Regina sees highest enrolment in history

REGINA — On the first day of classes for the Fall 2024 term, a record 17,409 students are attending the University of Regina.

In a release issued this week, the university said this represents an increase of 524 students, or 3.1 per cent, over the first day of classes in the Fall 2023 term.

Attending the U of R this fall are 2,332 Indigenous students and 4,793 international students.

“This is a fantastic start to the Fall term in our 50th anniversary year, and we are excited to welcome both new and returning students,” says Dr. Jeff Keshen, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Regina.

“As more than 2,800 new students from around the world begin their studies here this Fall, we remain committed to truth and reconciliation, providing exceptional hands-on learning opportunities, and prioritizing student mental health and wellness, said Keshen in a statement.

All enrolment numbers are preliminary. The U of R’s official enrolment numbers will be available in October.
