Regina Teen Arrested After Stealing Police Car

On wednesday, an 18-year-old woman was arrested following the theft of a police vehicle and a collision in Regina.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., police were calledto the area of 8th Avenue after receiving a report of a woman in apparent distress. Upon arrival, officers located the woman, later identified as 18-year-old Sydney Budden. It was determined that she was not in need of assistance.

The officers then transported Budden to a residence where she was going to stay. While the police officer was confirming Budden was welcome at the residence, she unexpectedly entered the driver’s seat of the police cruiser. Despite the officer’s efforts to remove her from the vehicle, Budden managed to put the patrol car in drive and fled the scene.

Officers quickly arrived at the scene and arrested Budden without further incident. She has been charged with the theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Budden is scheduled to make her first court appearance on these charges today, Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
