Vintage. Classic. Unique.

Stories abound of paintings or a pieces of pottery, silverware or other items that have been handed down or purchased and when they are appraised, SURPRISE!, these are worth a lot of money! Whether a canvas is cleaned or the dust has gently been brushed away from a piece of porcelain, a ragged doll’s face or some white pearl wedding gloves, there is value in surprising places. This weekend two venues offer you the chance to find something worthy of an Antique Road Show. Maybe you have enough retro / old / vintage / fun and unique items to last a lifetime. After all, you got them from your parents, grandparents or great grandparents; the history and the stories are there making it tough to let them go. Know this, people are always looking for things that bring out interesting conversations whether they have a personal connection to them or they purchase them to relive memories of family connections.

PBS has the Antique Road Show. This weekend, you’ll have a chance to pick up something that is unique. If a back alley garage sale isn’t your mojo, turn your sights to a pre-loved art show or the antique and vintage show and sale. The Grandmothers 4 Grandmothers “Art From the Attic” event takes place tomorrow at the Cathedral Community Centre on 13th Avenue. Last time I went to this event I purchased a terrific piece that was water colour or pencil that featured the original site of the Regina Roughriders home turf on Broad Street, Regina (the location of the Centennial Mall). The Art from the Attic is Saturday, September 14th from 10am to 4pm. My advice is to bring a keen eye and cash.

Today and tomorrow – the Queen City Antique & Vintage Market is happening at the Callie Club. One half of the rink is dedicated to collectors selling their goods such as brooches, scarves and ties, books and various kinds of depression glass, just to name a few of the thousands of items you’ll see. The sky is the limit when it comes to what we search out to buy. Friday the doors are open until 8pm and 10am to 4pm on Saturday – admission is $6. You might think about bringing something special to research with the professionals. You could be sitting on a fortune.

Either of these events will be wonderful to attend. If you’re like me, you enjoy having stuff around you. Sometimes it is just about being fun and unique. Here’s your opportunity to do just that. No judgement!

Antiques, Vintage & Collectibles today (Friday) Noon to 8pm and tomorrow (Saturday) from 10 to 4pm at the Callie Curling Club, Regina.

The ART From the ATTIC is tomorrow (Saturday) 10am to 4pm at 2900 13th Avenue Regina.
