Light Reading, Almanac Style (Audio)

From the “tell me something I don’t know file”; what is the hole drilled through the Old Farmer’s Almanac for? “Back in the day” it was to secure the book in the “outhouse”. How can it drop down the hole if its tied to something? Not many out houses so you can secure the book anywhere you want, the hole still exists.

Good Morning Saskatchewan had the chance to talk with Editor-in-Chief, Carol Connare on Friday. And what do we, prairie folk love to talk about? The weather of course. The almanac is known for giving monthly break-downs on the weather trends, the weather on a day-by-day basis for fishing, seeding and other husbandry related facts. It makes for a fascinating read if you are a star gazer or are looking for some gardening tips. And as Carol points out, very little changes when it comes to forecasting the weather. Winter is Winter after all. And whether or not you believe in climate change, you have to factor that in as well!

This year as in every year, the Old Farmer’s Almanac will have other interesting stories that you didn’t know you needed to read. When will the 2025 meteor showers be present, trends for the new year and the spin offs. So many spinoffs like calendars filled with newsie info and planting help, there is a children’s almanac and calendars and books on planting. The Old Farmers Almanac and the Farmer’s Almanac make great gifts at any time of the year. Well researched and offering tidbit that you didn’t know you needed. So, when you don’t know what to buy for someone, turn to the traditional publication that has been entertaining since 1792, the OG of publications! The Old Farmer’s Almanac 2025 Edition!!
