Nominations are now being sought for Saskatchewanians who have made their mark on their community and province. The 2025 Saskatchewan Order of Merit Medals are awarded by the Lieutenant Governor to current or former long term Saskatchewan residents who made a substantial impact on the social, cultural, and economic well-being of our province.

To nominate someone in your community there are some requirements that must be met. You must include an explanation of why you’re nominating the individual, a biography of the person, a list of their achievements, and three to six letters of support. Cassettes, newspaper or album clippings, CD’s, and pictures are not to be included in the application. Current serving politicians, judges, and organizations are not eligible for the honour, only individuals are allowed to be nominated, including those who have recently passed away.
The Saskatchewan Order of Merit was established in 1985 as the province’s highest honour. In 1991 the federal government added the Saskatchewan Order of Merit to the national sequence of orders, decorations, and medals. The Saskatchewan Order of Merit can be worn on national occasions and, pending the approval of the Governor General, can be worn alongside the national honours in the proper sequence.
Previous winners of the medal include former Premier Brad Wall, Saskatoon Tribal Council Tribal Chief Mark Arcand, former Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation Chair Brynn Boback-Lane, and several others.
The nomination deadline will be on November 30th. CLICK HERE to get the application form.
