Estevan company wins Sask Business of the Year Award

SASKATOON – Estevan business JS Truckmart won twice at the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce’s Achievement of Business Excellence Awards (ABEX) Saturday night in Saskatoon.

The company won the ABEX Business of the Year Award, and it took home the Growth and Expansion Award. It was also nominated for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award.

In a message to the Mercury and SaskToday, JS Truckmart credited their success to discipline in setting out every day and looking for a better way of doing things. It often goes unrecognized, she said.

“We are very proud because it’s one of the pillars of sustainability. And it’s not a given,” she said.

The company said it believes engaging the entire team is integral to the company’s success.

“The larger the business, the harder it is. And our owners, management and employees should all be commended,” she said.

In a post on her Facebook page, co-owner Christa Morhart had lots of praise to share.

“Thank you to the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce for organizing this event and recognizing the successes of the businesses that continue to contribute to the sustainability, economic growth and prosperity in Saskatchewan,” she wrote.

She congratulated the business partners, management team and the entire team of 40-plus employees at JS Truckmart.

“It takes a team of dedicated, loyal, engaged and hard-working folks to succeed and each one of us plays an integral role in the success of our business,” she wrote.

Morhart also congratulated all of the nominees and winners at the ABEX Awards. JS Truckmart was humbled to share the room with so many inspiring, innovative and passionate people at the event, she said.

“And thank you to the Estevan Chamber of Commerce for their continued support and attending the event to cheer us on,” Morhart wrote.

It’s the latest recognitions for the company, which also took home top spot in all three categories at last year’s Estevan Business Excellence Awards.

The ABEX awards were handed out at TCU Place in Saskatoon on Saturday night. The gala brought together over 500 attendees to recognize the contributions of Saskatchewan’s businesses and leaders across various sectors.

The awards highlighted the outstanding achievements of Saskatchewan’s businesses, acknowledging their significant role in driving the province’s economic and community development.
